FaceBook Party Busted by Cops

WISCONSIN

Dozens of area high school students will be receiving underage drinking tickets in the mail this week.

A Friday night house party was busted after the teenage host reportedly posted an invitation on her Internet Facebook page.

Relatives of the Wausau East High School student saw the invitation online and called her parents to inform them she was hosting a house party that Friday night.

Her father says the girl's posting included "...Bring your own alcohol. If you're respectful there shouldn't be a problem..."

He says they called the Marathon County Sheriff's Department and arrived at the house right behind deputies who then issued 29 underage drinking citations.

Lieutenant Randy Albert says "The majority of the people at this particular party were first time offenders for an underage alcohol violation.” He goes on to say, “Which is something that you don’t often see for a party of this size."

The girl's father says she was glad to see him, because she didn't know many of the people who showed up at the house.

Lieutenant Albert says that is not the only danger in cases like this.

"Unfortunately there is a certain segment of the population that is of the predatory nature and you would be surprised how much information people are unknowingly giving about themselves.

According to her father, the girl only meant for a few friends to see the invitation on her Facebook page.
