Microsoft Will Give Google Real Challenge
Microsoft is trying get a grasp in search business real hard. Their Live.com search engine is not getting much volume of search so far.
If you been looking at the recent tech news I am sure you have heard of these:
- Yahoo rejected the Microsoft buyout offer.
- Google rejected the search collaboration with Yahoo in fear of lawsuit.
- Yahoo CEO Jerry Wang out.
- Yahoo gets new CEO who got really no experience in search business.
Lets take a look at the December 2008 search volume for Google, Yahoo, Live:
Google 5,421,943,000 62.9% of total online searches
Yahoo 1,448,140,000 16.8% of total online searches
MSN/ Live 841,457,000 9.8% of total online searches
If we do the math here Yahoo+MSN/Live search volume comes to 26.6%. I think its just matter of time Microsoft would get Yahoo Search, unless something weird happen. This will give Microsoft enough fuel to propel a business war against Google.
All those past events lead me to only one prediction; Microsoft gonna be big in Online Search soon. And when that happens its gonna be really challenging for Google save their dominance. As a webmaster I am looking forward to see this, we really need another major search engines besides Google.
