Login Problem at V7N, Digitalpoint Forum and Many Others
I have seen this problem with quite a few forums using vBulletin. V7N Forums ,Digitalpoint Forum are two for example. If you type in the url without www, they don’t redirect to www version of the url. For example if you type in http://v7n.com/forums it stays like that. But the problem happens when the forum url is set as www version; all the urls are set with a www.
Login Problem:
If you login from a non-www url the forum script process the request and registers a session for the www version of the url and then takes the forum url from the settings(which include www) followed by a redirect to that current non-www url. If the server is not set right www and non-www of urls are treated as different urls. And as a result the login fails.
But if you now type in the www version of the url, forum would show you logged in.
Solution:
Need to make the url redirect to www version using .htaccess.
You can do that using two lines like this example below:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.webcosmoforums\.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.webcosmoforums.com/$1 [L,R=301]
Change the domain name to get the url redirection to work.
I have suggested V7N forum this solution, lets see if they listen.

Hi Everyone,
I have a carpet cleaning business in Houston,TX that was doing pretty good until the economy went bad, and with it my clientele. I have a website for the business but I dont
know what I have to do the get it to show up in a search. Right now it’s somewhere in the yahoo/google netherworld (LOL).
Is there someone on here that can give me some insight or know of anyone that coud give me insight on how I can get my local website on the front
page of a Yahoo or Google search to increase my business without it costing me 5 or 10k $$$? If so please share with me.
I thank you and my hungry over-eating children thank you.
thanks,
The key for ranking well are two things: 1) Optimize your pages well so they tell the search engine bots what they are about. 2) Get backlinks from related sites.
Hi,
I have problems logging into Digital point. They run a sub domain for forums. So there is no way I can use the www. I tried with both IE and mozilla. Mostly it has problems. Rarely am I able to login. I hope they fix the issue soon.
